House starts examining candidates for top posts at oil, gas regulatory body

	The House of Representatives (DPR) started examining on Tuesday 18 people, of whom nine will be appointed chairman and members of the management board of the newly formed regulating agency which manages oil products and their distribution along with natural gas pipeline transportation. 
The 18 people included legislator Tubagus Haryono and TA Nur Winakun, spokesman and head of the legal affairs section at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Eri Purnomo Hadi, chairman of National Entrepreneurs Association.
President Megawati Sukarnoputri, who has authority to appoint chairman and members of the regulating body, had submitted the 18 names to the House.
The formation of the new body was based on the current oil and gas law which became effective late in 2001. (*)
