House to decide on BPMIGAS? new chairman on Tuesday: Legislator

The House of Representatives will decide on who will become the new chairman of oil and gas upstream regulator BPMIGAS on Tuesday after conducting a fit and proper tests on three candidates proposed by the government today (Monday).

?The House?s Commission VII (which oversees among others energy affairs) will hold a plenary meeting to decide who will become the new chairman of BPMIGAS,? Mahadi Sinambela of the Golkar party said on Monday.

The government has proposed three names for the House to select as BPMIGAS? chairman. The three candidates are R. Priyono, currently Director of Upstream Business Affairs at the Directorate General of Oil and Gas, Evita H. Legowo, an expert staff at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources and Hadi Purnomo, the head of the ministry's research and development center Lemigas.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro told Petromindo.com that the government would particularly assign the new chairman to make cost recovery more efficient and increase the country?s oil and gas production. (Godang)
