House votes for Priyono as next BPMIGAS Chief

R. Priyono will become the next chairman of upstream oil, gas watchdog BPMIGAS following a voting conducted by House of Representatives on Tuesday.

Prijono, who is currently Director of Exploration and Production at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources got 45 votes while his competitors Hadi Purnomo and Evita Legowo garnered seven and zero votes, respectively.

The House's Commission VII, which oversees among others energy affairs held fit and proper test on Monday to decide on the three candidates proposed by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro to replace Kardaya Warnika.

Commission VII's Chairman Airlangga Hartarto told reporters that House Speaker Agung Laksono will soon inform President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono about the House's decision. (bernard/godang)
