The Hulu Sungai Utara regency administration in South Kalimantan complains about the slow disbursement of the so-called coal royalty by the central government.

The administration was quoted by the Banjarmasin Post daily as saying that the slow disbursement had affected the development program in the regency.

The renewed complaint was made during a recent gathering between the administration and the local parliament?s commission C.

The paper said that the coal royalty had to be transferred to the finance ministry in Jakarta first before redistributed to the respective coal producing areas. The paper said that this mechanism had contributed to the slow disbursement process.

Meanwhile, Commission C legislators demanded the revision of the royalty disbursement mechanism.

Coal producing areas have often complained about the slow disbursement of the coal royalty.(*)
