Huadian Bukit Asam eyes Sumsel 9&10 power plant project

Independent power producer PT Huadian Bukit Asam Power (HBAP), a joint venture between IDX-listed coal and energy firm PT Bukit Asam Tbk (PTBA) and China Huadian Hong Kong Company Ltd, is seeking to grab the Sumsel 9&10 coal-fired power plant (PLTU) project in South Sumatra Province, Kontan reported on Monday.

The paper quoted PTBA Corporate Secretary Suherman as saying that the joint venture company is waiting for planned tender of the 1,800 MW project be held by state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

He said that PTBA is seeking to expand its power plant assets as part of diversification strategy and given the company?s huge coal reserves.

HBAP is planning to develop the 2x600 MW PLTU Sumsel 8 project, also in South Sumatra. Last week, the company signed with PLN amendement of the power purchase agreement (PPA) of the project. (*)
