Humpus to buy 10 coal vessels in three years

IDX-listed firm PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk will spend up to US$20 million to buy between five and 10 coal tugboats and barges within three years to take the advantage of the surge in the demand for coal transportation in the country, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.
The company?s director Permadi Soekasah said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the purchases of the ships which would comprise tugboats and barges sizing up to 300 feet.
?The fleet will not be new ones but they will be good enough for coal shipment in the country,? he said, adding that the demand for coal shipment would increase sharply within the next two and three years due to operations of new coal-fired power plants currently being built under PLN?s fast track program.
