IDX-listed shipping firm PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk said on Thursday its subsidiary PT Hutama Trans Kencana had on August 1 signed a memorandum of agreement with Asahi Tanker Co Ltd and Solar Shipping and Trading SA in relation to the sale and purchase of an oil tanker called Akama.
Humpuss said in a filing with the Indonesia Stock Exchange that the transaction is valued at US$11.5 million. No further details were provided.
Humpuss President Director Theo Lekatompessy said earlier that the company has recently acquired a new vessel worth $15 million with capacity of 50,000 dwt. It was the second vessel acquisition made this year after the company acquired a smaller one in March. Theo said that the company was looking to acquire a greater capacity vessel in the fourth quarter of this year to transport LNG as it seeks new contract from IDX-listed gas distribution firm PT PGN Tbk and state-owned power firm PT PLN.
