Humpuss to lease LNG and chemical tankers

Publicly listed shipping company PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk (HITS) plans to invest up to Rp 1.14 trillion (US$120 million ) to finance long-term rent contracts for several tankers for the transportation of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and chemical products, Investor Daily reported on Thursday.

The company?s Director for business development, Permadi Soekasah, said Humpuss planned to lease a LNG tanker with a capacity of 125,000 tons under a 10-year contract which would cost up to $30 million.

In addition, the company also plans to lease a chemical tanker with a capacity of 10,000 tons under a long-term contract which will be worth $15 million. Humpuss also intends to lease 7 LNG support harbour tugs under 10-year contracts which will be worth $60 million.

?We are preparing funds worth $15 million to rent floating storage and offloading facility with capacity of 125,000 cubic meters in 2013. The lease will last between one and three years,? Permadi said. (*)
