Humpuss to procure 4 tugs and barges

Indonesian-listed shipping and offshore supporting company PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk will bring in four more tugs and barges this year.

"Three of the 300-feet barge and tug sets have already arrived and construction works are in progress to set up all four sets at a shipyard in Batam. We hope the delivery to user of two sets to commence in Q3 and the rest in Q4," Haryono, newly appointed Director of PT Humpuss Intermoda Transportasi Tbk, said on Thursday.

The additional tugs and barges will expand the company?s fleet to 22 sets. Haryono said procurement of one set of tug and barge costs the company about Rp 30 billion.

Budi said the company had already secured a renter that would use the first two tug and barge sets to transport coal in Kalimantan. He refused to identify the company.

Another Director Permadi Soekasah said the company had no plan to procure new chemical and oil tanker. The company currently operates 8 ships with various capacities and one LNG carrier which is being leased to Pertamina.

Budi said all the existing ships had been leased under a time charter scheme of one year minimum.

Earlier in the day, the company announced the new board of directors and commissioners in an extraordinary shareholders meeting.

Sumardjono was named the President Commissioner as well as Independent Commissioner replacing Hasan Machbub, with Mansur Ahmad appointed as Commissioner.

Meanwhile Theo Lekatompessy was named the President Director replacing Bagoes Krisnamoerti, and Permadi Soekasah and Budi Haryono named directors. In the old structure there was only one director.
