Hundreds of ex-mining workers seize company cars

Hundreds of ex-staffs of PT Sumber Mitra Jaya (SMJ), the largest contractor of state coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam, hijacked 10 cars owned by SMJ in their long pursuit to demand better a compensation package, the Sriwijaya Post daily reported.
The protesters stopped on Tuesday morning cars operating to pick up remaining employees of SMJ for work. They took the cars to a poor near local train station.
The ex-employees said that the hijack was meant to show to the company that they're very serious with their demand.
SMJ had to cut off part of its employees, as its contract with Bukit Asam had not been extended. (*)
