Hundreds of PT Tripatra workers attended on Monday a hearing session between the company and the local House of Representatives.

Tripatra is the contractor of oil and gas firm PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia, which also attended the hearing session.

The session focused on the fate of six Tripatra workers temporarily dismissed by the company in 1999 on charges of committing a crime. But police investigation proved later on that that the six were not involved in the accused crime.

The paper didn't say what the crime specifically was, but only said that it was forcing some one to do something and hitting someone.

The legislators demanded Tripatra to pay the December salary of the six employees, as ruled by the local office of the ministry of labor affairs.

The lawyer of the six workers, Kapira Ampera, lambasted Tripatra for often intimidating its staffs.

Riau informal leader Prof. Tabrani Rab, who also attended the session, questioned the existence of Tripatra as well as Caltex. He demanded the government to arrange the existence of Tripatra and Caltex in Riau in a government ruling.(*)
