Husky to spud MAX-1 well end of December

Husky Oil Madura Ltd, a unit of Canadian oil, gas firm Husky Energy, plans to spud one offshore exploration well in Madura Strait block in East Java later this month, according to an official of upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas.

?The firm will drill a well called MAX-1 in third week of this month,? Head of Survey and Drilling Division at SKK Migas Arief Fanzuri told Petromindo on Monday.

Arief also said Husky Madura has conducted the drilling of the MBF-1 well which was spudded in Nov. 2, 2013.

?Currently the preparation for the drilling at the well has been completed,? he said.

The Madura Strait block, located offshore East Java, south of Madura Island, covers an area of 2,795 sq km. Husky, the operator, holds a 40 percent interest in the block, with the remaining 40 percent held by CNOOC Madura Ltd. and 20 percent by SMS Development Ltd.
