State-owned construction firm PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has completed the development of a jetty and production facilities for PT Solusi Bangun Indonesia Tbk (SBI) in Tuban, East Java, boosting Indonesia’s cement export capacity.
The project, which began in 2022 in Glondonggede Village, Tambakboyo District, has been declared ready for operation following the issuance of a Taking Over Certificate on April 11, 2026, the company said.
A key feature of the project is a 4.2-kilometre tube conveyor system, described as the largest-capacity installation of its kind in Southeast Asia. The system connects the production area directly to the jetty, enabling more efficient and reliable cement loading onto vessels.
The facility is expected to support higher cement exports, particularly under a strategic collaboration between SBI and Japan’s Taiheiyo Cement Corporation, with shipments aimed at the United States market.
The project scope included the construction of a new jetty trestle and platform integrated with existing infrastructure, allowing for improved port operations and logistics efficiency.

Hutama Karya said the development highlights its capability to deliver large-scale engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) projects in the industrial sector.
“The completion of this project demonstrates Hutama Karya’s ability to deliver industrial infrastructure that not only meets technical and safety standards but is also fully operational to support clients’ business needs,” said Hamdani, the company’s acting executive vice president for corporate secretary.
SBI, part of state-owned cement holding company PT Semen Indonesia (Persero) Tbk, is expected to expand its sea-based distribution network and strengthen its export competitiveness with the upgraded infrastructure.
The project adds to Hutama Karya’s EPC portfolio, alongside its involvement in toll road and energy infrastructure projects, as the company seeks to support national logistics and supply chain development.
