Hydro power plant planned in West Aceh

PT Aceh Hydro Power plans to develop a 59MW hydro power plant in Ceureumen district, West Aceh Regency , Aceh, Antara reported Thursday.
Aceh Hydro, a joint venture between a French company and a unit of state-owned power firm PT PLN, will invest US$50 million in the project, the report said quoting a company official Stephan.
The report did not disclose the identity of the French company nor the PLN unit.
The company is currently in the process of seeking environmental and forestry permit as the project will utilize about 54.3 ha of forest area.
The local administration hopes the project could start construction in 2016 or 2017.(*)
