Four hydro power plants in Kebumen Regency, Central Java, will be suspended starting today due to the current drought, Kompas.com reported Friday.

Muchtarom, Head of the local water resources and energy office, was quoted as saying that the drought has caused the water stock at the Sempor and Waslintang dams to drop by up to 75 percent.

The four hydro power plants include PLTA Wadaslintang (with capacity of 16 MW), PLTA Sempor (1.1 MW), PLTA Pajengkolan (1.4 MW), and PLTA Merden (400 kilowatt). (*)
