PT Indonesia Bulk Terminal (IBT), a subsidiary of coal mining giant Adaro, has set a lower coal handling volume target of 3 million tons for 2013 amid the current weak global coal market.

?We have lowered our 2013 target to 3 million tons. We are optimistic it can be achieved? said Bram Surjadi, Marketing Manager of IBT to Petromindo.com Friday.

From that target, 2 million tons are expected to come from Adaro?s own output, and 1 million tons from non-Adaro. By market segmentation, China remains IBT?s main destination, especially from non-Adaro clients that are using IBT services.

For comparison, in 2010 IBT recorded 6.23 million tons coal being loaded, of which only 3.48 million tons were Adaro?s output, while the rest were from other parties. IBT has a maximum handling capacity of 12 million tons.
