Indonesia Cement Association (ICA) said that coal demand from the country?s cement industry in 2018 is projected to jump to around 20 million tons, from the estimated 13 million tons this year.
Erry Susanto Indrawan, Senior Advisor of ICA told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that the surge in demand will be driven by new cement capacities being developed to meet growing demand at home. ?Coal requirement (from cement firms) in 2018 will be around 20 million tons,? he said.
Erry said that cement production in the country this year is estimated at 65 million tons, out of the total installed capacity of 70 million tons, requiring 13 million tons of coal. He added that national cement demand this year is estimated at around 90 million tons.
