Majority of Indonesia Coal Mining Association (ICMA)?s 168 members are still actively producing coal despite the lingering weak coal price environment, according to Chairman of ICMA Pandu Sjahrir.

?Out of our 168 members, there are approximately 100 members who are still actively producing coal,? Pandu said Petromindo.com recently. ICMA members are mainly big players in the industry and some of the members are listed companies, which contribute more than 50 percent of total national coal output.

Pandu expects that the total national coal output will decline this year compared with last year due to the weak coal price and market demand. He estimated that the country?s coal output will be around 350 million tons to 370 million tons this year, or 10 percent to 15 percent lower than 392 million tons produced in 2015.
