PT Indonesia Coal Resources (ICR), a subsiadiary of PT Antam tbk, is expecting to produce about 400,000 tons of coal in the second semester of this year from its coal mine in Sarolangun, Jambi.
President Director Bachtiar Magalatung told Petromindo.com that the company initially targeted to produce about 1.2 million tons this year. However, the firm later decided to cut the output in view of the bearish situation in the coal market.
In the first semester the company only produced about 200,000 tons of coal.
"In the second semester, we will boost our production to at least 400,000 tons. So, we shall produce about 600,000 tons throughout the year. Hopefully, the price will get better," he said adding that most of its coal is exported to India.
Bachtiar said ICR also purchases coal in South Kalimantan to meet Antam's need. "We have supplied about 30,000 tons of coal to Antam's unit business in Pomalaa, Southeast Sulawesi," he said.
