Ifishdeco builds Rp 1T nickel smelter in Sulawesi

A company called PT Ifishdeco will invest about Rp 1 trillion to build a nickel smelter in South Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi, a media report said on Monday.

Harison Yawan, President Director of PT Bintang Smelter Indonesia (BSI), Ifishdeco?s partner in the project, said that construction of the 100,000-ton capacity smelter will be completed in 2015.

Speaking on the sidelines of a ground-breaking ceremony of the smelter project, he added that the smelter will use machinery manufactured in Singapore.

Meanwhile, South Konawe Regent Imran said that since the central government introduced the mineral ore export ban policy, there has been 27 investors expressing plans to develop smelters in the regency, but so far only three have started to realize the project including Ifishdeco, PT Machika, and PT Sambas.
