Illegal miners have returned to the gold mining site of PT Indo Muro Kencana (IMK) in the North Barito district, Central Kalimantan, despite recent measure by the local authority to curb the illegal mining activity, the local Kapos daily reported.

The paper said that the illegal miners have make tents for the past couple of weeks in several of IMK's site and started digging. The traditional miners would disappear every time the authority shows up at the site.

The paper quoted the traditional miners as saying that the site provided by the authority for them had not much gold potential and they also face difficulties to obtain the license.

"We will continue to mine at the IMK site," said one illegal miner. (*)
