Ilthabi Bara Utama to start producing 1-2 MTPA of coal next year

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Ilthabi Bara Utama is expected to produce 1-2 million tons per annum (MTPA) of coal next year, the president director said.
The company has 15,000 hectare coal mine concession with reserves of 200 million tons in Kutai Kartanegara regency, Ilham Habibie said on Tuesday. Currently, the company's coal mining construction project is on the final stage and is expected to start production in 2008, Ilham said.
The coal deposits are mostly of low grade with calorie content between 4,800 and 5,000 Kcal/kg and the company will triple annual output to 6 million tons within five years, Ilham said.
The company is discussing the coal supply to state electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), he added. (godang)
