Iman Taufik rumored to acquire stake in Bumi Resources

Local businessman Iman Taufik will likely acquire a stake in publicly listed PT Bumi Resources, which recently bought 80 percent of BHP Billiton?s shares in South Kalimantan based coal mining firm PT Arutmin, according to industry sources.

?Taufik, the owner of mining service provider PT Tripatra Engineering views Arutmin has a very good future,? the source told Petromindo.com on Monday.

Earlier reports said Bumi Resources would acquire Bakrie Brother?s 20 percent stake in Arutmin, allowing the company to gain full control over Arutmin.

A Bumi resources is a Jakarta listed company indirectly controlled by heavily indebted businessman Aburizal Bakrie. Aside from Arutmin, the company engages in oil exploration in Indonesia and Yemen.

Taufik is a close associate of Aburizal. (alex)
