Industrial estate operator PT Indonesia Morowali Industrial Park (IMIP) has recently completed construction of its third 2x350 MW coal-fired power plant in Morowali, Central Sulawesi Province.
CEO of IMIP, Alexander Barus said that the power plant is currently at commissioning stage. ?We completed the project in April,? he told Petromindo.com on Tuesday in Bali.
He said that with the completion of the third coal-fired power plant, the company now has installed power capacity of 1,130 MW to be supplied primarily to industry tenants at the industrial park.
He said that the company requires six million tons of coal per year with calorific value of 4,200-4,500 kcal/kg. The company welcomes parties willing to participate in the supply of coal for the power plants, he added.
IMIP started construction of the first 2x65 MW coal-fired power plant in Morowali in 2013, followed with the second 2x150 MW, and the third 2x350 MW.
Last year, IMIP signed a power purchase agreement with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN for the latter to buy excess power from the 2x65 MW coal-fired power plant owned by the former. PLN will in the first phase buy an excess capacity of 5 MW to meet the power needs of Morowali regency in Central Sulawesi province.
