Imported parts seen as key obstacle in repairing Tangguh LNG Train II

The main obstacle hampering the repair work of the Train II facility of the Tangguh LNG plant in West Papua is the relatively lengthy waiting period for the arrival of the imported spare parts, according to SKSP Migas, a caretaker body temporarily assuming the role of the now defunct upstream oil and gas authority BPMIGAS.

?We?re currently waiting for the arrival of the imported spare parts to be able to fix the Train II (facility) in Tangguh. If the domestic industry could supply the required spare parts, the LNG refinery could resume full operation soon. This (the repair works) takes time because having to wait for the imported spare parts,? SKSP Migas spokesman Hadi Prasetyo told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

Hadi is hopeful, however, that the Train II facility, which stopped operation following a fire incident in late October, could resume operation in the middle of December of this year.
