Chairman of Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) M.Chatib Basri said that government needed to improve investment climate on mining sector to encourage new investors in the sector.

Basri made the the statement in response to a recent report by Canadian-based Fraser that ranks Indonesia as the worst investment destination for mining due to the latter's uncertain policy.

"This (the report) suggests the need for making improvements. If it is ranked at 96th, the lowest rank, it means there are problems with it, including on investment climate, licensing, and regional regulations," he told Petromindo.com at the State Palace recently.

"We have to try to improve them. We have to be more open minded about it," said Basri.
