Inalum set to start production of aluminum alloy, billet by year end

IDX-listed aluminum maker PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium Tbk (Inalum) is set to start production of aluminum alloy and billet at the end of this year as part of product diversification.

?Production will start at the end of the year,? said Inalum President Director Winardi to petromindo.com on Monday.

He explained that the annual production capacity of billet will be 30,000 tons, while aluminum alloy 90,000 tons. He, however, said that in the first year, production rate will be around 50 percent of total capacity, further increasing to 70 percent in the following year, and to reach full-capacity by 2020.

Winardi said that the company will start selling the output next year. Inalum currently produces aluminum ingot, targeting total output of 250,000 tons this year. In the first semester of this year, the company produced 130,000 tons of ingot.
