Inalum set to start production of aluminum alloy, billet next year

IDX-listed aluminum maker PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium Tbk (Inalum) said that construction progress of its aluminum billet and alloy has reached 75 percent and is on track to start production early next year as planned.

Inalum President Director Winardi Sunoto said on Thursday that that aluminum billet and alloy plant forms part of the company?s diversification strategy.

He also said that production of aluminum ingot has reached 200,000 tons, and is on track to meet full-year target of 250,000 tons. He did not provide further details.

As has been previously reported, the annual production capacity of billet will be 30,000 tons, while aluminum alloy 90,000 tons. Winardi said previously that in the first year, production rate will be around 50 percent of total capacity, further increasing to 70 percent in the following year, and to reach full-capacity by 2020.
