State-owned aluminum producer PT Indonesia Asahan Aluminium (Inalum) distributes 90 MW of excess electricity from its power plant to state-owned electricity firm PT. PLN to help increase power supply in North Sumatra, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.

The paper quoted Inalum President Director Winardi as saying the North Sumatra-based company has been able to distribute its excess electricity to PLN after it was taken over by the government last year from a Japanese consortium.

PLN had expected Inalum to be able to supply up to 135 MW of electricity to the North Sumatra power system, the paper added.(*)
