The use of the new technology is one of the efforts to improve the company’s rating performance in terms of environmental management (so-called proper rating program), which was conducted by the Ministry of Environment.
“Inco’s emission is in fact above the limits, but it doesn’t mean we don’t have commitment to manage the environment. This is because we have not yet find the technology.” Inco’s director of government relations Sri Koncoro told the Investor on Sunday.
“ If we use the present technology, the gas emission can still explode. That’s why we are searching for the new system. Now we have already found engineering and design of the technology by our experts,” Kuncoro said.
The four units of the new technology will need three months time to install. Each unit will cost US$12 million.
In the first phase of the proper rating program, Inco entered into the red rating list, and in the second phase it remained in the position.(*)
