Indexim doubles coal output

Coal mining firm PT Indexim Coalindo, which operates coal mines in Kutai Timur Regency, East Kalimantan Province, doubled its coal output in the first quarter of this year to 1.04 million tons from 501,290 tons in the same period of last year.

?Coal output (in first quarter 2017) jumps 100 percent from 501,290 (in first quarter of 2016),? said Lili, a director at the company to Petromnido.com on Thursday.

She said that the company is on track to meet this year?s coal production target of 5 million tons, compared to 2.9 million tons last year. The company is ramping up production amid ongoing recovery in the price of the commodity.

Lili said the coal output was sold to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, and exported to China, India, and the Philippines.

Indexim has a combined 25,000-ha coal mines producing coal with calorific value of 4,200 kcal per kg.
