India?s GMR to speed-up S. Sumatra coal production by mid 2011

South Sumatra coal miner PT Barasentosa Lestari (BSL) plans to speed up its coal production to the middle instead the end of next year, with an initial production of 300,000 tons of low rank coal througout the year.
The production will increase to 1 million tons in 2012 and it will be gradually increased to the maximum capacity of 6 million tons, Vice president Mining & Operation Bambang Saptono told Petromindo.Com on Tuesday.
BSL is a coal contract of work (CCoW) holder which has so far discovered 300 million tons of coal resources, he said. The mine is located in Musi Banyuasin and Musi Rawas regencies.
BSL is wholly-owned by Indian firm GMR Group.
The coal will be used to fuel its proposed 2,000-MW power plant which will be built in the east coast of India. (denny)
