India's Knowledge Infrastructure to raise coal imports from Indonesia

Knowledge Infrastructure System Pvt., one of India's largest trading firm targets to increase Indonesian thermal coal import to around 8 million tonnes for 2012 fiscal year, up from 2011 fiscal year of 5.6 million tonnes.

?For the 2011 fiscal year, we plan to import 7 million tonnes of coal, 80 percent of which are expected to come from Indonesia,? the company's chief representative for Indonesia Arnold Siagian said on Tuesday without naming the coal suppliers.

The remaining coal import will come from South Afrika and Australia, he said.

In the 2010 fiscal year, the company imported 5.5 million tonnes of coal from Indonesia. (giok)
