India?s Lanco Group eyeing Indonesian coal mine projects

Hyderabad-based Lanco Group eyeing to acquire coal projects in Indonesia to secure coal supply sources for its proposed coal-fired plant projects in India and Indonesia, India?s Business Standard Daily reported Wednesday.
"We are planing to invest in two to three coal mines in Indonesia to reserve 200 million tonne of coal. This will cater to all the projects." Lanco L Madhusudhan Rao, chairman of the group was quoted by the report as saying. He did not give further detail.
The report said that the company, in a JV with Canadian SNC Lavalin is bidding for up to 5,000 MW projects in India. The company is also eyeing African and a few Asian countries including Indonesia to set up the power plant in the joint venture. (*)
