India?s Taurian to start E. Kalimantan coal production in December

Indian firm Taurian Iron & Steel Co Pvt. Ltd. is expected to start coal production from its East Kalimantan coal mine in December this year, the company?s officer has said.

The company?s coal mine is located in Muara Wis sub-district, Kutai Kartanegara regency with coverage area of 1,700 Ha. The company has obtained IUP license, Amyn Karim, Asst. Manager-Business Development told Petromindo.Com last week.

In the first year, the company expects to produce 100,000 tons of coal per month, he said, adding that the mine has high gross calorific value (GCV) thermal coal.

The coal from the mine will be shipped to the company?s currently under construction 0.5 MTPA steel integrated plant in Naomundi, state of Jharkhand, India. The plant will have 30-MW power plant, he added.

He also said that the company has a coal trader business activity, but he did not give further details.

Taurian is a mining company headquartered in Mumbai, operating iron ore mines in Jharkhand with an output of approximately 1 MTPA. The mine has been operating since 2001 and is one of the leading mining companies in the East Coast of India. (denny)
