FOR SUPPLY OF 300,000 MT HIGH CV COAL

17 March 2005 - Vedanta Resources Plc is a London Stock Exchange Listed and FTSE 250 international metals and minning major with interests in Aluminium. Zinc, Copper, Silver and Lead, having operations in India, Australia and Africa. It holds its interest in these businessess in India through its operating companies Sterlite Industries (India) Ltd in Copper, Bharat Aluminium Company Ltd and Madras Aluminium Company Ltd (Malco) in Aluminium and Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL) in Zinc and Lead.

Sealed Tenders in two parts are invited from well established Mine owners, Accredited Coal Suppliers having past experience for supply of 300,000 MT High Calorific Value Non-Coking Coal. The Coal as per the specifications given in the tender enquiry is to be supplied in phase manner between April to December 2005 to Malco & HZL.

Copies of Tender Documents can be obtained on payment of Tender Fee of Rs.500/- or US$ 100 (Non Refundable) by demand draft in favour of the Madras Aluminium Co.Ltd payable at Mettur Dam. Soft copies of Tender Enquiry Schedule can be provided throug e-mail on payment of Tender fee. Vedanta reserves the right to accept or reject any/all tenders, procure through e-bidding of follow any other process of finalisation of tenders at its sole discretion
