India?s Welspun adds Sumatra coal mines portfolio

India's fastest growing conglomerate Welspun Group through its Indonesia firm PT Batubara Energy Indonesia has added its coal mine portfolio in Jambi province, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com.

The company has bought another five coal IUP (mining license) holders, bringing its coal mines three to eight in the province. All the mines are located in Sarolangun regency, the official said.

According to the official, at present, the company produces 60,000 tonnes of coal per month from one mine. The official did not give further details.

The mine has a calorific value of 5,300-5,100 kcal/kg (ADB) with total moisture around 42 percent. (denny)
