Indications of KKN in Bukit Asam's tender

The committee for the procurement of 156 cars worth Rp 64 billion for the state owned coal-mining company PT Bukit Asam (PTBA) has been accused of conducting favoritism and cronyism.
Source said that the committee, which is headed by one of the company's department, had alledgedly prepared the qualification procedures in the procurement of the vehicles for certain bidders in Jakarta.
"The committee, for example, set the maximum bidding price at 80 percent of the owner estimate. It is absurd and how could we set our prices if the company does not announce the estimated price of cars it wants to buy," one of the sources said.
The sources charged that the company, which is based in Tanjung Enim, South Sumatra, set such requirement only for the benefit of certain car distributors in Jakarta.
The tender has been delayed for several times. 10 bidders were recently dropped from the list after the committee found that the bids were made by the same companies. (*)
