South Korean firm Samtan Co and Indonesian firm Indika Inti Corporindo will colloborate to build a coal-fired power plant in Pasir regency, East Kalimantan starting in 2008 to solve electricity crisis in the region.
Ali Pattan, a senior manager at East Kalimantan-based coal miner PT Kideco Jaya Agung, a subsidiary of both Samtan and Indika, said the plan to build the power plant came in response to the request from the regency's administration.
Ali said the firms along with the Agency for the Study and Application of Technology (BPPT) were conducting a feasibility study for the project.
The six-month-long feasibility study will cover the possible capacity and location and ?hopefully, it (the feasibility study) can be completed by the end of this year,? he said.
He did not give further details.
Samtan and Indika own 49 percent and 41 percent of Kideco respectively. (godang)
