IDX-listed integrated marine and logistic provider PT Indo Straits Tbk strengthened its vessel fleet as it began operating a new barge crane on Wednesday, Bisnis Indonesia daily reported.

Indo Straits President Commissioner Richard Ong was quoted by the paper as saying that the company currently has 60 vessels to support its logistic support and offshore service businesses.

He said that of the total, eight units are classified as crane barges, used to support oil and gas operations. The new crane barge was built by PT Galangan Balikpapan Utama (GBU).

GBU Director Novan Theodorus said that the number of crane barges in the country is limited despite huge demand particularly in East Kalimantan, where the oil and gas industry is expanding briskly. (*)
