Despite the lingering volatile nickel price, PT Indoferro aims to increase nickel pig iron output this year by 14.29 percent to 160,000 tons from 140,000 last year, Kontan repoerted Monday.
Indoferro President Director Radius Suhendra said that revenue this year is projected to rise by more than 33 percent to US$160 million, which could be even higher if nickel price increases.
The paper said Indoferro produced nickel pig iron with purity of Ni 5%, exported to China and Taiwan.
Radius said Indoferro also plans to bolster the production capacity of its nickel pig iron smelter in Cilegon, Banten to 500,000 tons per year. He said commissioning is expected in first semester of this year.
Indoferro is teaming up with China National Machinery Import and Export Corporation in the project. (*)
