Indomico to spend Rp5 billion for community development

Coal producer PT Banpu Indominco Mandiri plans to spend at least Rp5 billion (US$=Rp9,100) to finance its community development programs in East Kutai, Kutai Kartanegara and Bontang regencies in East Kalimantan, Kaltim Post reported on Tuesday.

The company's spokesman HM Nasution said in Samarinda on Monday that if the company could meet its target to producer six million tons of coal a year, it would allocate between Rp4 billion and Rp5 billion for its community development program.

At present, the company has provided a financial assistance to small traders residing near its production site, in addition to scholarships to hundreds of pre-elementary school students. (*)
