East Kalimantan miners PT.Indominco Mandiri and PT.Anugrah Bara Kaltim (ABK) have won 1 million tonnes per annum coal supply contract with Tanjung Jati B coal-fired power plant starting 2007, a Tanjung Jati B official said on Monday.

General Manager Affianto Hapsoro told Petromindo.Com that Indominco and ABK would supply 700,000 tonnes and 300,000 tonnes annually, respectively, of medium CV coal to Tanjung Jati B. The contract would last for 10 years, he said.

?Coal supply contracts would be signed soon,? he said.

With addition of the two new suppliers, Tanjung Jati B will have four suppliers, including PT.Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC), which supplies 2 million tonnes per annum for 10 years, and PT.Berau Coal, which will supply 1 million tonnes this year, Affianto said.

The 2x660-MW Tanjung Jati B is owned by PT. Central Java Power (CJP), in which Japan trading house Sumitomo is controlling shareholder. CJP entered into a 20-year long-term lease with PLN, under which PLN will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the power plant during the lease period.

The plant, which is located in Central Java city of Jepara, commenced operations last year. (godang/denny)
