Indominco, subsidiary of IDX listed Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITM), the Indonesian unit of Thai giant firm Banpu is doing the "unthinkable" to cut operating costs.
First, the mine which operation has so far been independently handled by the company, will shift to use semi mobile In-Pit Crushing and Conveyor system next May.
"Equipments are arriving this December," a source in the company told Petromindo.com.
Another source from Banpu said that once the system is fully implemented, it will reduce the amount of trucks Indominco currently deployed to between 10 to 15 units, not mentioning how many it uses now.
Banpu gets various producers and designers to supply various items that make the system, including two sizer units by MMD.
In addition to the In-Pit Crushing and Conveying (IPCC), Indominco is also optimistic that its fuel conversion plan, from fossil based fuel to LNG based fuel on trucks supplied by Volvo, will work. The plan is currently undergoing a trial run involving some 40,000 MBTU of LNG.
