Indomobil enters coal business through mine contractor

Indomobil?s official, Bambang Prijono said that PSG has secured mining contract from NBC since March this year. PSG is expecting to produce 1.7 million tonnes of coal this year. ?But the realization might be lower, because initial coal production from the mine was slightly delayed,? he said.
NBC has marked first coal shipment in May 2011 with volume of 30,000 tonnes.
Earlier, the company?s official told Petromindo.Com that NBC has started production at its Berau mine in February this year. The official said that the company plans to produce around 1.5 million tonnes of coal during 2011 and will ramp up the output to 3 million tonnes and 5 million tonnes in 2012 and 2013, respectively.
The calorific value of the coal is 5,400 kcal/kg (ADB) with low sulphur, the official said, adding that the company?s run of mine (ROM) to jetty port on Segah river is just around 20 kilometer.
NBC is a coal unit of PT Ithaca Resources, which belongs to Salim Group. Ithaca Resources has several other coal mines, all located in East Kalimantan and are still in exploration stage. (*)
