The country's condensate output also rose to 140,000 BPD in August from 130,000 BPD in July.
"Indonesia's crude production increased slightly because some existing oil wells were developed," one source said.
"There are opportunities for Indonesia to increase production next year when Unocal's West Seno oil field comes onstream in April. But other wells must be maintained," he said.
Pertamina officials have said production from the West Seno oil field in the Makassar Straits would begin with around 45,000 BPD and gradually increase to 60,000 BPD.
Another industry source said Caltex Pacific Indonesia, owned by Chevron Texaco , produced around 540,000 BPD in August, down from around 600,000 BPD in July.
"Caltex's output declined because production from the Coastal Plain Pekanbaru (CPP) block has been handed over to state oil company Pertamina and Riau province," the source said.
The CPP block produced around 40,000 BPD.
Indonesia, Asia's only OPEC member, has a quota of 1.125 million BPD from the cartel.(*)
