Indonesia, China sign mining, oil & gas agreements

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono witnessed the signing of agreements between Chinese and Indonesian business players at China-Indonesia business forum held on Monday during the visit of President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to the World Expo in Shanghai, China.

There are seven agreements in energy and mineral sector were signed. The seven agreements are between state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina and Shanghai Know-How Marine Equipment for marine lubricant sale, and between Samudera Energy and CNOOC/Husky Oil on support for operation of Madura Strait block.

State-owned miner PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) and Hangzhou Jinjiang Group (HJG) signed an agreement for bauxite development in West Kalimantan province.

In July 2010, Antam announced the signing of the first amended and restated joint venture agreement with HJG to build a smelter grade alumina (SGA) plant in Mempawah, Pontianak regency, West Kalimantan province.

Meahwhile, PT Waja Sekawan Prima and Tian Yi Seamless Steel Tube signed agreement to build first pipe seamless pipe factory in South East Asia. Barong Baragas Energy and Jinchuan Group agreed to jointly build nickel smelting in South East Sulawesi.

In addition, Bumi Makmur Selaras and Hanking Industrial Group agreed to jointly explore and develop nickel in Sulawesi, while Indonesia Mitra Jaya in partnership with Super Power Int. Holding will build an integrated nickel smelter in Seram island. (bernard)
