Coal producer, PT Indonesia Coal Resources, a subsidiary of state-owned mining company PT Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam) said that it failed to meet target to deliver 700,000 tons of coal last year after the administration of Jambi temporarily barred the company to transport coal via public road.

President Director of Indonesia Coal Resources, Bachtiar Magalantung said that the ban on using the public road to transport coal took effect during the period from November 1 to December 1, last year.

The company managed to realize delivery of only 590,000 tons in 2011.

?We hope to meet our target of 1.5 million tonnes in 2012 as the administration has doubled the capacity of the public road to 20 tons,? Bachtiar told Petromindo.com on Friday.

He said that the company had signed a contract with Sinar Mas in Riau to deliver 30,000 tons per month throughout 2012 and that the company would also deliver 600,000 tons to each of a foreign buyer in Japan and in India this same year. ?We expect the shipment could be made in March,? he said.

The company, which has mineable coal of 10 million tons, targeted to ramp up its production to 2 million tons per year.
