Indonesia's crude oil production fell to 1.05 million barrels per day (BPD) in December, compared with 1.12 million BPD in November, industry sources said on Friday.

Indonesia's condensate output rose slightly to 149,000 BPD in December from 145,000 BPD in November, they said.

"Output in many ageing wells is declining. There is no additional output from other wells to compensate for the decline," one source said.

Another source said Caltex Pacific Indonesia produced 501,000 BPD in December, compared with 510,000 BPD in November.

Caltex, a unit of Chevron Texaco, is the biggest oil producer in Indonesia.

Indonesia has an OPEC quota of 1.192 million BPD. Condensate is not included in the quota.

"The expectations for production increases come from the Unocal West Seno field in the Makassar Strait," the first source said.

Unocal has said it would start production from its West Seno oil field next May with initial output of 40,000 BPD. (*)
