Indonesia discusses mega shipyard investment with Korean shipbuilding firm

Indonesia’s government is exploring potential investment in the shipbuilding sector as part of efforts to strengthen the national maritime industry.
Todotua Pasaribu, Deputy Minister of Investment and Downstreaming and Deputy Head of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), met with representatives of HD Korea Shipbuilding & Offshore Engineering to discuss possible investment in the construction of a mega shipyard in Indonesia.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on potential cooperation in developing a large scale shipyard project aimed at expanding Indonesia’s shipbuilding capacity.
The proposed investment is expected to help strengthen the domestic maritime industry and create employment opportunities as Indonesia seeks to expand its shipbuilding and maritime manufacturing capabilities.
